5FF: My Must-See Halloween Movies List

It's another 5 Fandom Friday hosted by The Nerdy Girlie and Super Space Chick! This Friday's theme is must-see Halloween movies. I've already put together a Halloween Movie List for this year, but that one's pretty complete, so I'll bust out my top 5 for you right here!

Hocus Pocus
Is there a single Halloween movie list that doesn't include Hocus Pocus? I don't know, but it seems like a crime against Halloween.

The Nightmare Before Christmas
Another Halloween MUST, from the songs to the visuals, it doesn't get any Halloweenier than this Tim Burton classic.

Lunopolis
I might just be really lame (???) but I totally loved this movie. Maybe loved is the wrong word-- I deeply appreciated this movie. It's an indie sci-fi flick told as a documentary with "found" footage centering on space travel, time travel, cults, and parallel universes. You can find it on Netflix.

The Craft
Teen witches-- but none of that cutesy, lollipop stuff. This is a pretty classic film about girls who mess around with black magic. At first it's just for kicks, but as the limits on their power fade, they become more and more psychopathic.

Silence of the Lambs
I love the Hannibal Lecter character and this is the best done film about him. It's a thriller, but not a horror movie. I actually think it's pretty funny, but maybe I'm a little twisted in my sense of humor? It's a really great movie and a key figure in pop culture, so if you haven't seen it, you should!

  2. Your first two are my top two! I love Nightmare... because I can watch it now through Christmas! It's a multi-holiday movie and gets extra points on that end! I watched The Craft for this month (a tradition for me too).

  3. I love that about Nightmare too! It's weird though because you have to endure that Nightmare-Before-Christmas-lull around Thanksgiving in the US. lol

I really love The Craft. I'm trying to convince a friend to write a paper on it.

  4. It is a complete mystery to me how I managed to never see The Craft. I guess I was a little too old when it came out, or I just avoided it because everyone I knew just assumed I'd seen it. lol

  5. I haven't seen Lunopolis, but it sounds like my type of film. Thanks for the recommendation!

  6. Oh, definitely let me know what you think! I totally loved it but it's definitely not a typical film.

  7. I was waaaay too young when it first came out (3 y/o) but I finally got around to watching it and really liked it!

  8. The Craft is one of my favorite movies. Fairuza Balk really chews the scenery as the villain. I always wanted a sequel, but on the other hand, the movie is perfect as is!

  9. The Nightmare before Christmas is an absolute classic! I'm so glad one of my friends recommended it to me several years ago.
